Family Vacations: Surviving the Trip (page 19)

Unless you want your next vacation to be referred to in family lore as the worst trip ever, it's wise to start planning before you get on the road (or in the air)!

Keep in mind that fatigue, hunger, and boredom are the chief culprits of cranky kids. Make sure your kids get a good night's sleep before the trip. If possible, have them indulge in some strenuous activity (bike riding or skate boarding, for example) before they settle in for a long ride . . .
