Interview with author Jane Kurtz

Children's author Jane Kurtz grew up in Ethiopia, moving there at age two and spending the better part of the next 26 years living there. But it wasn't until she was 40 and living in Illinois that she began to write about life in Africa, an endeavor she says has been a "healing and inspiring experience." In 2000, she won the Golden Kite Award for best picture book text for River Friendly, River Wild, and in 2002, Water Hole Waiting was named to the School Library Journal's Best Books List. Her latest book, The Feverbird's Claw (Greenwillow/HaperCollins) was released this spring . . .
